I was scheduled to interview with Benjamin for a business case. The interview structure was not handled well and significantly impacted my ability to perform. Instead of beginning the case promptly, the interviewer spent approximately 15 minutes on introductions and personal stories unrelated to the interview. This reduced the time available for the case itself. When the case began, the prompt was delivered in an unclear and disorganized way, making it difficult to understand the objective and constraints. During the case, I struggled due to the lack of clarity and time pressure. Despite asking clarifying questions, I received little to no guidance or engagement. Based on my experience and Capital One’s stated interview expectations, which emphasize collaboration and interviewer support during case interviews, this interview did not align with those standards. I ultimately ran out of time and was unable to complete the case, largely due to the interview structure and lack of facilitation. Interviewers should be well-prepared to deliver cases clearly and manage time effectively to give candidates a fair opportunity to demonstrate their skills.
